Will Daniher get done? Can the Blues land Papley, Martin and Pittonet?

2019-10-16T07:09+11:00

Trade deadline day is here and SEN Breakfast’s Tim Watson believes the Joe Daniher trade is long odds to get done.

Sydney and Essendon have been haggling over the contracted key forward with the little ground being made and the former Bomber champion believes it is unlikely to happen.

“I’m saying right now there’s a 10 per cent chance, maybe a 5 per cent chance and drifting that the deal will get done. They want a player,” Watson said.

Tying into the Daniher deal is Tom Papley and his future. He wishes to be traded to Carlton and SEN newsman Sam Edmund says the Blues have tried everything to get the deal done.

“There’s about 60 different scenarios going on here. The Blues have tried everything to get Papley,” Edmund told SEN Breakfast.

“They were initially going to give pick nine for Papley and get a future second and give that for Jack Martin. These talks have not progressed. It’s more likely to happen than Daniher.”

Carlton is also after Hawthorn ruckman Marc Pittonet, with Andrew Phillips requesting a trade to Essendon.

Edmund expects that will get done.

“I think he will get there. No questions there. It will be a late pick. A fourth-rounder maybe,” he said.

“He’s going there for more opportunity. He wants to play as Matthew Kreuzer’s back-up because we know Andrew Phillips is going to join the Bombers.”
