AFL player manager Jason Dover has revealed he received a call from Melbourne regarding his uncontracted client Jack Martin.
Martin’s trade to Carlton from Gold Coast collapsed on trade deadline after the two clubs failed to come to an agreement.
The Demons hold pick No.3 in the 2019 National Draft but Dover says the 24-year-old has his heart set on a move to the Blues.
“They (Melbourne) may have already given me a call and they got a response to say that we’re completely focused on Jack playing at Carlton,” Dover told SEN’s Bob and Andy.
“The main one obviously is the draft period and then the pre-season draft.
“We’ll put a bit of work into that amongst our group at TLA in conjunction with Jack and Carlton and figure out what option is best for us.”
Dover detailed how talks between Carlton and Gold Coast broke down as the trade period neared its conclusion.
“Obviously there were a lot of deals going to deadline and with Carlton wrapped up in a few of them,” he said.
“We were trying to negotiate between the two parties of Carlton and Gold Coast to see whether we could get something done with Jack.
“Unfortunately, time ran out and we couldn’t get an agreement to happen, so we’ll have to move on and look at our alternatives.”
Dover says Martin has no intention of returning to Gold Coast after a six-year stint at the club.
It’s reported that Carlton turned down Gold Coast’s offer of Jack Martin and pick No.15 in exchange for pick No.9.
