“Bold and brave”: Dal Santo encouraged by St Kilda’s fruitful trade period

2019-10-21T13:22+11:00

Nick Dal Santo is pleased to see St Kilda take a “bold and brave” approach that netted five new players during the trade period.

Brad Hill, Paddy Ryder, Dougal Howard, Zak Jones and Dan Butler all joined the Saints as they seek further improvement in 2020 after finishing 14th with nine wins last year.

Dal Santo is confident the five recruits can make an immediate impact next season.

“I think the perception and the conversation of what I’ve heard over the last four or five days around the Saints is at least they are doing something, at least they are being bold and brave,” Dal Santo told SEN Breakfast.

“So I’m happy from that perspective, I think those five players can make a difference.

In order to land all five players, St Kilda had to part ways with Josh Bruce and Jack Steven who were traded to the Western Bulldogs and Geelong respectively.

“Unfortunately, on the other end you lose Josh Bruce and Jack Steven,” Dal Santo said.

“You can’t have it both ways. If you want to improve you’ve got to give up something along the way.”

Brandon White, Bailey Rice and Robbie Young were delisted by St Kilda last week.
