Dal Santo reveals cheeky 2004 West Coast trade approach

2019-10-21T13:35+11:00

Nick Dal Santo played 322 games for St Kilda and North Melbourne, but imagine a world where he joined West Coast for the 2005 season.

The Eagles made the Grand Final that year, boasting an incredible midfield.

Chris Judd, Ben Cousins, Daniel Kerr, Dean Cox, Chad Fletcher and Andrew Embley formed an incredible group and Dal Santo has revealed a cheeky post-game approach was made to him by a West Coast star back in 2004.

“I got asked a long, long time ago,” Dal Santo told SEN Breakfast while discussing Travis Boak’s conversation about joining Port Adelaide with Orazio Fantasia during the 2019 season.

“We were playing West Coast and I was relatively young, maybe 2004ish.

“We were playing West Coast and David Wirrpanda asked a few questions post-game while shaking hands.

“I can’t remember the result, but David asked what I was doing the following year and that sticks out in my mind when you talk about that Orazio Fantasia story.

“I was probably too scared and respectful of Wirrpanda at that stage.

“I obviously said no and didn’t leave.”
