Nick Robertson says being delisted was emotional, but he is grateful for his time at the Brisbane Lions and feels he has a lot of footy ahead of him.
Robertson was culled by the Lions along with Ben Keays, Josh Walker and Ryan Bastinac, despite playing in their semi-final loss to GWS.
“It’s been a bit of a whirlwind … it’s a bit disappointing but that’s the nature of the business," Robertson told SEN's Time On.
"I’m very grateful for the opportunity I got in Brisbane and enjoyed my time here … but looking forward to what’s next."
Robertson confirmed he was looking to play on at another club and would willingly accept another AFL opportunity.
“I’d love to continue on my AFL career and I know I’ve got a lot more to offer at AFL level. Given an opportunity, I’d be taking it with both hands," Robertson said.
“From what I’m hearing JD (Jason Dover) has been talking a lot to some clubs which is really promising and encouraging.”
Asked if he would like to return home to Western Australia or stay in Queensland, the 24-year-old said he “would be willing to play anywhere.”
The defender was drafted by the Lions with pick 34 in the 2013 AFL Draft. He made his debut against Port Adelaide in round 4 of the 2014 season.
