Edmund: New Victorian club enters the frame for Bennell

2019-10-29T08:55+11:00

Melbourne is the latest club to show interest in Harley Bennell.

According to Herald Sun journalist and SEN Breakfast’s Sam Edmund, Bennell will undergo a medical at the Demons tonight.

Bennell’s manager, Colin Young, recently revealed that “half a dozen” clubs have spoken to his client over an AFL return in 2020.

“What is certain now is that he (Bennell) is going to get a chance at it,” Edmund told SEN Breakfast.

“Melbourne is the latest club (to show interest in Bennell). He’s going to have a medical with them tonight.

“They’re going to sit down and meet with him. We know that Sydney touched base months ago and Josh Kennedy has met with him.

“The Cats have confirmed that they have met with him as well to gauge his motivation levels.”

Bennell played 83 games for Gold Coast and Fremantle but managed just two in four years at the Dockers due to chronic soft tissue injuries.

The 27-year-old was selected with pick No.2 in the 2010 draft.

Melbourne secured the services of Adam Tomlinson and Ed Langdon during the trade period.
