According to Channel 7 AFL reporter Mark Stevens, a record nine Thursday night games will be played next season, up from last year’s tally of eight.
Thursday night football has become an increasing trend in the AFL schedule, with last season’s fixtures played between Rounds 1 and 5 and another three held between Rounds 13 and 15.
Richmond and Carlton play their traditional season-opener in a Thursday night time slot at the MCG.
The Blues will reportedly not play any Friday night games in 2020.
