Draft hopeful has spoken to all but one AFL club

2019-10-30T15:05+11:00

Draft prospect Dylan Stephens has spoken to 17 of the 18 AFL clubs ahead of the 2019 National Draft.

Stephens, who has been likened to West Coast wingman Andrew Gaff, has been touted as a potential top 10 selection.

The South Australian midfielder was selected in the U18 All-Australian side and averaged 18.1 disposals from 11 games for SANFL side Norwood.

Stephens says one coach left a lasting impression during the interview process.

“I think I’ve spoken to everyone except Richmond at this stage,” Stephens told SEN SA Breakfast.

“I had a really, really good interview with David Teague … just the amount of interest he took in it all. He asked the majority of the questions in the meeting. That went really, really well.

“John Longmire and Rhyce Shaw also took a lot of interest. Those three, along with Chris Fagan from the Lions.”

Stephens also revealed he has been in regular contact with Adelaide.

“I’ve spoken to them (Adelaide) a fair bit throughout the year,” he said.

“Pick No.4 is pretty early and there’s a lot of good players in the pointy end of the draft. I’d love to go to the Crows and I’d love to stay here (in Adelaide), but I guess we’ll have to wait and see.”

The opening night of the 2019 National Draft takes place on November 27.
