Michael Hartley has departed Essendon to explore opportunities elsewhere.
Hartley played 44 games in four years at the Bombers and managed just three senior appearances on 2019.
GM of Football Dan Richardson says Hartley declined Essendon’s contract offer.
“We offered Michael a contract, but he indicated to us that he wanted to explore other opportunities,” Richardson told essendonfc.com.au.
“Michael is a highly respected person at the club and his attitude and commitment to the program have been commendable.
“On behalf of the club, I would like to thank Michael and wish him all the best with his future endeavours.”
Hartley, 26, was picked up by Essendon in 2015 after spending two years on Collingwood’s rookie list.
Ben McNiece, Jordan Houlahan, Trent Mynott, Jake Long, Tom Jok, Zac Clarke and Mitch Brown have also left Tullamarine.
