2019-11-14T12:21+11:00

Hawthorn has pulled off a coup, signing retired AFL players Brett Deledio and Andy Otten as playing coaches.

The two will don the brown and gold in the VFL for the Box Hill Hawks and also serve as development coaches for the senior team.

Box Hill GM of Football Dan Napoli said he was excited by the signings.

“To attract and sign two guys that offer great leadership and experience to our line up is a fantastic coup for the club,” Napoli told the club’s website.

“It’s pleasing to be able to inject some top end talent into our list heading into the 2020.

“We’ve got a young and exciting group who should really benefit from the knowledge and insight both Brett and Andy can offer.

“We’re looking forward to seeing what they’ll bring in both and on-field and off-field capacity.”

Deledio retired following 275 games with the Tigers and Giants, while Otten played 109 games for Adelaide.
