Ex-Bomber training with Hawthorn ahead of pre-season draft

2019-11-18T09:56+11:00

Former Essendon defender Michael Hartley has been cleared to train with the Hawks in the lead-up to the pre-season draft.

The 26-year-old rejected a contract offer from the Bombers in order to seek greater opportunities and will now attempt to convince Hawthorn to pick him up.

He played 44 games for the Bombers, but only three in 2019, stuck behind the likes of Michael Hurley, Cale Hooker and Aaron Francis.

The Hawks have made changes to their key defensive stocks for next season, bringing in Sam Frost from Melbourne in the training period and delisting Kaiden Brand, who has signed with Sydney.
