Lyon predicts two teammates to elevate themselves this summer

2019-11-20T18:10+11:00

Nathan Lyon has predicted Travis Head and Josh Hazlewood to go to another level this summer.

Head was dropped for the final Ashes Test but is almost certain to win a recall for tomorrow’s first Test against Pakistan in Brisbane.

The South Australian averages 42.7 from 12 Tests and will look to cement his spot in Australia’s middle order.

Hazlewood starred in the Ashes taking 20 wickets at 21.85 after being overlooked for the opening Test at Edgbaston.

“Someone I’d love to see in the batting would be Travis Head,” Lyon told SEN Drive.

“He has been training the house down and preparing the house down as well.

“In the bowling department, I’m backing Josh Hazlewood.

“The way he has been bowling for New South Wales and the back end of the Ashes was absolutely exceptional. They are my stand outs for the summer.”

The SEN Cricket broadcast kicks off at 9am on Thursday. Tune in to hear Gerard Whateley, Simon Katich, Anthony Hudson, Damien Fleming, Mel Jones and Pakistan great Wasim Akram.
