Dave Rennie has been appointed as the Wallabies’ new head coach on a three-year deal.
Rennie replaces Michael Cheika who departed following Australia’s World Cup quarter-final exit to England.
He will fulfil his current commitments with Glasgow Warriors before linking up the Wallabies in July, 2020.
Rugby Australia CEO Raelene Castle is confident Rennie can create a foundation for Australia to be successful at the 2023 Rugby World Cup.
“This is a massive coup for Australian Rugby, Dave Rennie was the clear standout candidate for the job, and we’re thrilled to have secured his services," Castle said.
“Dave’s coaching philosophy focuses equally on football and team culture, the key pillars to building sustainable success in any team. He has a proven track record in the Northern and Southern Hemisphere.”
The New Zealand native led the Chiefs to six straight Super Rugby finals series, punctuated by consecutive titles in his first two seasons in charge.
