Report: Essendon considering versatile NT prospect

2019-12-17T12:02+11:00

Essendon could yet add another player to its list according to a report from AFL Media’s Cal Twomey.

The report suggests that the Bombers are plotting a move for NT Thunder forward Nigel Lockyer who is in Melbourne to spend time at the club this week.

The athletic and versatile 22-year-old, who can also operate in defence, is eligible to be picked up via the Pre-Season Supplemental Selection Period (SSP).

Lockyer was invited to the AFL Draft State Combine after impressing for the Thunder who he joined from Central Australian Football League side Rovers. He has also represented the Northern Territory in basketball.

Essendon has the option of moving draftee Lachlan Johnson, who suffered an ACL injury in July, on the long-term injury list which would open up a spot for Lockyer.
