Hawthorn forward undergoes ankle surgery

2019-12-24T12:11+11:00

Hawthorn forward Jack Gunston has undergone ankle surgery after experiencing pain during the club’s pre-season camp in Mooloolaba.

He is expected to return to main training in February after he went under the knife on Monday, with the club adamant the setback won’t significantly impact his 2020 season.

"Jack is now home recovering and looking forward to getting back into training in the new year, with a view to a return to training as soon as possible," Hawthorn football boss Graham Wright said in a statement.

The 28-year-old played 20 players and kicked just 26 goals in 2019

His latest injury setback puts him in serious doubt for Hawthorn’s opening Marsh Community Series match against St Kilda in February.
