UPDATE
Mitch Hibbard has been cleared of serious damage to his knee, Essendon has confirmed.
EARLIER
Essendon recruit Mitch Hibberd has suffered a suspected knee injury in training.
AFL.com.au’s Callum Twomey is reporting Hibberd was carried from the field after going down during a drill at Tullamarine on Thursday.
The 23-year-old was rookied by the Bombers after impressing for Williamstown in the VFL last year.
Hibberd averaged 24.3 disposals and 6.9 tackles per game for the Seagulls and was selected in the VFL Team of the Year.
A long-term injury would be a cruel blow for the midfielder as he looks to grasp his second chance at AFL level after he was delisted by North Melbourne in 2018.
New Bomber Mitch Hibberd appeared to hurt his left knee in a drill towards the end of training. Was carried off the field by trainers after a quick assessment. Hopefully not serious for the former Roo.
