Jake Carlisle has hailed St Kilda’s list as the best he has seen since joining the club in 2015.
Carlisle, 28, is yet to play finals entering his fourth season at Moorabbin, but he believes the nucleus is there for the Saints to take significant strides in 2020.
When asked whether the current group ranks ahead of previous crops, the former Bomber replied: "Definitely".
"Not only because we've got guys come in in the off-season, but we've got guys who have played together for two or three years now.
“We've got the right people here to help us win games."
The defender is hoping for an injury-free campaign after back surgery restricted him to just 10 games last season.
He took part in Monday’s match simulation along with new recruits Bradley Hill, Zak Jones, Dougal Howard, Paddy Ryder, Dan Butler and Ryan Abbott
"This time last year was a bit tough mentally and physically. It's good to get over the niggles," Carlisle said.
"I'll just hopefully get back to being the best player I can individually and, if that's the case, hopefully that's going to help the team contribute to wins."
St Kilda last played finals in 2011 and will be looking to better their tally of nine wins last year.
