Will Essendon play finals in 2020?

2020-01-23T08:15+11:00

David King is concerned about Essendon heading into the 2020 season, leaving them out of his predicted top eight.

The Bombers slipped into eighth in 2019, but King feels there are a few factors that will make it tough for them to hold onto their spot.

“They won five games by under 10 points last year, most in the competition,” he told SEN Breakfast.

“Their percentage, even though they made the eight, was 95.

“It’s very rare you make it with such an ordinary percentage.

“Their pre-season... there are too many injuries. I think it’s going to catch up with them, I really do.”

Key Essendon players have had interrupted pre-seasons, with Dyson Heppell (foot), Michael Hurley (shoulder), Orazio Fantasia (hip), David Zaharakis (foot/ankle), Joe Daniher (groin), Marty Gleeson (ankle), Matt Guelfi (knee), Noah Gown (foot) and Sam Draper (knee) among them.
