2020-01-29T12:14+11:00

UPDATE

The Bulldogs have confirmed that Nick Austin - the son of premiership player Rod - is on his way to Carlton, effective immediately.

“I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time at the Bulldogs and the being able to contribute to the club as part of the list management and recruiting team,” Austin told westernbulldogs.com.au.

“Working alongside Sam (Power), Chris (Grant) and the wider team has been a great experience, which I know will hold me in good stead for this new challenge.”

Carlton's head of football Brad Lloyd also confirmed the news.

“Nick has an innate knowledge of what it takes to build a Premiership list as well as achieving sustained finals success, which is obviously a clear focus for us,” Lloyd told carlton.com.au.

“In his recent role at the Bulldogs, Nick’s key focus was on the draft and his extensive skillset will be invaluable in heading up our recruiting department.

"Nick’s addition rounds out a highly experienced List Management and Recruiting team at the club, where he will work closely with Paul Brodie, Mick Agresta and our entire recruiting team to ensure our playing list is well-placed, both now and into the future.

“Nick has been terrific at building meaningful relationships across the AFL industry over the last 14 years at three different clubs and we are delighted to attract yet another quality person and industry-leading professional to the Carlton Football Club.”

EARLIER

Western Bulldogs National Recruiting Manger Nick Austin is set to make the jump to Carlton, according to a report.

Channel Seven’s Mark Stevens is reporting that Austin will replace Blues legend Stephen Silvagni in the role of head of list management and recruiting.

Stevens adds that the announcement will be made soon.

Austin joined the Bulldogs at the beginning of 2018, following a decade working in list management, opposition analysis and player welfare.

Silvagni departed Carlton at the conclusion of the 2019 trade period, following five years with the club.

He oversaw a dramatic turnover of the Blues’ list, including 11 first-round draft picks.
