Essendon teammate still unclear on Daniher return

2020-02-02T10:39+11:00

Essendon star forward Joe Daniher is back from an overseas trip to a world-leading groin specialist but teammate Darcy Parish still doesn’t know when to expect him back out on the field.

The 25-year-old visited Dr Andy Franklyn-Miller in Dublin last month as he attempts to find a solution for the debilitating injury which has restricted him to just 11 games in the last two years.

Speaking at the club’s family day on the weekend, Parish said Daniher was working hard but there still wasn’t a timeframe on when he’s expected to regain full fitness.

"The (medical staff) are monitoring Joey. He is attacking his rehab really well," he said.

"He is bringing a positive attitude amongst the group still, so that's all we can expect from him.

"I don't think there is a time on it...but, hopefully, we can get him out there soon and take some hangers and (kick) goals for us."

After an off-season marred by injuries to a number of key players, the Bombers will step out against West Coast in Perth on February 27 in their first game of the Marsh Community Series.
