EARLIER

Gold Coast Suns youngsters Charlie Ballard and Mitch Riorden are expected to spend several months on the sidelines, according to AFL Media.

Riorden - who is yet to make his debut for the suns Suns - ruptured his ACL last week just as he was set to take part in the club’s match simulation.

The 20-year-old was taken at pick two in the 2019 mid-season draft.

Meanwhile, Ballard will miss as many as three months after undergoing a shoulder reconstruction last week.

The 20-year-old enjoyed a breakout 2019 for the Suns, playing 21 games but could miss a large part of the first half of the season after being dealt a serious injury blow.

The Suns will face crosstown rivals Brisbane in a practise match on February 15 before their opening Marsh Community Series clash against Geelong on February 22.
