2020-02-12T14:57+11:00

Who are the genuine superstars of the AFL?

Nick Dal Santo says only five players can be classified as superstars of the competition.

Speaking on SEN's Dwayne’s World, the former St Kilda and North Melbourne midfielder explained the criteria behind his list.

“The criteria of it is, which I think is important, because it’s more than just the on-field,” Dal Santo said.

“Clearly on-field they need to be an absolute jet, but off-field they need to have a presence. They’ve got to be marketable.

“They are the only superstars by definition in the competition.”

Below are Nick Dal Santo’s five superstars of the AFL:

  1. Nat Fyfe (Fremantle)

  2. Patrick Dangerfield (Geelong)

  3. Dustin Martin (Richmond)

  4. Lance Franklin (Sydney)

  5. Gary Ablett Jr. (Geelong)

Dwayne Russell believes Carlton gun Patrick Cripps, Western Bulldogs captain Marcus Bontempelli and Collingwood champion Scott Pendlebury also warrant superstar status.
