Could Cyril link up with Hawthorn great at struggling local club?

Could Cyril Rioli link up with Hawthorn premiership teammate Shane Crawford at struggling Kyabram District Football League club Ardmona?

Garry Lyon has revealed Rioli, a four-time premiership Hawk and Norm Smith Medallist, is being targeted for a one-off appearance.

Crawford was appointed Ardmona coach last October and helped the club avoid being kicked out of the competition. They have not won a senior game since July, 2015.

“Silly Shane Crawford, who is a great young man, he says: ‘I’ll go and coach them and save them.’ And that didn’t wash with the Kyabram District Football League,” Lyon told SEN Breakfast.

“Crawf had to go to an appeals board to try and get them reinstated, and he has done that.

“My sources tell me that he will be producing a documentary on Ardmona, running it on Channel Nine. Craw’s raised the $85,000 salary cap himself … and maybe get Clarko (Alastair Clarkson) for training and Cyril’s not out of the question. Only a one-off.

“That is 100 per cent on the cards, whether Cyril says yes or not, but he is in their sights.”

Ardmona lost to EFL side Nunawading by 215 points in the “Battle of the Battlers” match in 2018.
