Tim Watson forecasts a “great season” for Eddie Betts

2020-02-14T08:28+11:00

Tim Watson has predicted Carlton recruit Eddie Betts to kick between 30 and 40 goals in 2020.

Betts re-joined the Blues after six years at Adelaide and Watson believes the 32-year-old has at least another “excellent season” left in him.

The small forward booted 32 goals in what was difficult a tumultuous 2019 season for the Crows.

“I think what happened with Eddie last year is symptomatic of what happened with the Adelaide Crows in terms of how difficult they found it to move the ball forward and the opportunities that were presented as a result of that. Guys like him rely upon that type of ball supply,” Watson told SEN Breakfast.

“I think the way that Teague has Carlton playing, we saw a sample of that last year, I think it’s going to continue into this season, I think that’s going to really suit him (Betts).

“I think Eddie’s probably going to kick between 30 and 40 goals and I think that’s going to be a great season for Eddie Betts.

“I’m of the view that Eddie still has at least another excellent season in him in terms of what he is going to be able to produce.”

In 316 games, Betts has kicked 600 goals and was named All-Australian in 2015, 2016 and 2017.
