AFL announce starting time for 2020 Grand Final

2020-02-17T18:19+11:00

The AFL has announced that the 2020 Grand Final will remain at 2:30pm AEST.

The decision was ratified when the AFL Commission met for the first time this year in Melbourne today.

It means a twilight or night Grand Final has been resisted for another year.

“The Toyota AFL Grand Final is the biggest event in the Australian sporting calendar, consistently attracting more than 100,000 fans to the MCG for the last Saturday in September,” AFL Commission Chairman Richard Goyder said in a statement.

“Our Grand Final showcases the best parts of our game, both on and off the field, and we look forward to another outstanding AFL season ahead of us.”

“We will continue to ensure the event remains the benchmark for Australian sport.”

The 2020 AFL Grand Final will be played on September 26 at the MCG.
