Jeremy Cameron hoping to have contract situation sorted soon

2020-02-19T09:47+11:00

Reigning Coleman Medallist Jeremy Cameron is hoping to have his contractual situation sorted sooner rather than later.

Out of contract at the end of 2020, the Giants star doesn’t have a timeline on when he wants to have it sorted, but seems confident that it is all heading in the right direction.

“Going into this off-season, I just sat down with the club and had a bit more of a chat about it over time,” he told SEN Breakfast.

“Everything is looking positive and I really do love this playing group and where we’re heading.

“It’s a pretty active and ongoing (conversation) and I’m speaking to everyone I need to and the club I would say it is quite active.

“I’ve pretty much said to everyone that I haven’t put a timeline on it. You sort of think of these things and train and play footy at the same time, but I’ve definitely been thinking about it a lot more.

“I’d dare say I’d rather something get done sooner rather than later, but if it takes until September, it will, so I’m not to fazed by the whole thing.”

Cameron has been selected to represent Victoria in the Bushfire Relief game and expects the players to be going full speed in attack, but a little less so defensively.

“I was talking to the boys yesterday and it would be nice if it was about five out of 10 defence and 10 out of 10 offence, I think that would give us a good look,” he said.

“I think if there’s someone coming back into the hole you’re obviously not going to run through that guy, you don’t want to injure someone going into the season.

“Everywhere else around the ground it will be pretty much full on, I’d imagine.

“The defenders don’t want us to kick goals and we don’t them to dominate us and so forth so it’s going to be a great game to watch I reckon.”

The game takes place on Friday the 28th at Marvel Stadium as part of a double-header with the AFLW.
