Grundy lends contract advice to Magpies teammate Moore

2020-02-19T17:49+11:00

Brodie Grundy has urged out-of-contract Collingwood teammate Darcy Moore to take his time when weighing up his future.

Moore has been recently linked to Richmond who reportedly see him as a long-term replacement for retired defender Alex Rance.

The 24-year-old isn’t close to signing a new deal at the Magpies with manager Liam Pickering saying "we’ve still got a bit of work to do" to keep the defender at the Holden Centre beyond this year.

Grundy, who signed a seven-year deal at Collingwood after a protracted contract saga, says Moore shouldn’t feel rushed into making a decision.

“It’s a lot more of a decision than just where do I want to play football, and you’ve got to take the time to appreciate those things,” Grundy told SEN SA’s Kymbo and The Rooch.

“That’s what I’ve told Darcy, just to take his time. It’s ultimately his decision and he shouldn’t feel rushed.

“I just tell Darcy that I’ve gone through that narrative and it’s going to be continued to be spun throughout this year.

“In terms of what he can do is put his best foot forward, play as good a footy as he can, and I look forward to this being the start of a really successful year for him.”

Moore was selected in Victoria’s squad for the State of Origin bushfire relief match against the All-Stars next Friday night at Marvel Stadium.
