After Dwayne Russell proposed the idea of teams being allowed to have a franchise player who they pay outside of the salary cap, Kane Cornes has gone through all 18 teams and named who he would franchise.
Russell believes the idea would allow teams to reward their best players, give them greater cap flexibility and also create a little more drama in the trade period, with teams able to offer up the franchise tag to players from other sides.

Cornes’ franchise player for all 18 clubs from SEN's the Captain's Run:
Rory Sloane
Harris Andrews
“It could have easily been Eric Hipwood or Lachie Neale, it could have been Jarrod Berry or Hugh McCluggage, Brisbane were hard. I like their list. It’s a good young list.”
Patrick Cripps
Brodie Grundy
Dylan Shiel
“Two years ago I would have gone Joe Daniher, but not with Joe now.”
Nathan Fyfe
Patrick Dangerfield
David Swallow
“I’m worried for the Gold Coast. I was looking through and I found it really hard to come up with a marquee player for the Suns. You can’t go young. You can’t go Jack Lukosius, you can’t go Izak Rankine, you can’t go Noah Anderson or Matt Rowell, so I went David Swallow.”
Jeremy Cameron
Chad Wingard
“I went Wingard with some trepidation. I don’t know, it wasn’t easy. Tom Mitchell won a Brownlow, but I think Wingard is their marquee player.”
Max Gawn
Ben Brown
Robbie Gray
“Until Connor Rozee takes over, of course.”
Dustin Maritn
Rowan Marshall
Lance Franklin
“It’s Franklin until Isaac Heeney takes over.”
Jack Darling
“It would be Jeremy McGovern, but I think Jack Darling will be their most valuable player for the next five years.”
Marcus Bontempelli
“Aaron Naughton is not too far away.”
