Collingwood re-sign young trio to two-year contract extensions

2020-03-09T09:55+11:00

Collingwood have re-signed Nathan Murphy, Tyler Brown and Callum Brown to new two-year deals.

Callum Brown was a mainstay in the Collingwood lineup last year, playing 22 games including in both the qualifying and preliminary final.

His brother Tyler was drafted in 2017 but still hasn’t made his senior debut. Meanwhile, Murphy played two games for the Pies in 2018 but failed to see any senior action in 2019.

All three have penned contracts which tie them to the club until at least the end of 2022.

“The future is theirs to write but right now Cal, Tyler and Nathan are seen as important to what is next for Collingwood,” Pies list boss Ned Guy told the club’s website.

“They have cut their teeth and, to a degree, the improvement we need to find as a side in 2020 will come from the players who have now got some experience in the system and are ready to flourish.”

The announcement comes just weeks after Collingwood re-signed the likes of captain Scott Pendlebury, star ruckman Brodie Grundy and Chris Mayne.
