Dermott Brereton's top 8 and premiership predictions for 2020

2020-03-11T07:35+11:00

Hawthorn legend Dermott Brereton has made his predictions for the 2020 season.

Starting with the premiership, he sees the Eagles edging out the Tigers.

“Logic would suggest Richmond, but it’s just so hard to win two in a row albeit they’re very difficult to win three out of four,” Brereton told SEN SA’s Kymbo and the Rooch.

“I’ll say West Coast to beat Richmond.”

As for the Brownlow, Brereton believes this is the year for Carlton’s Patrick Cripps.

“I think Carlton will bank a few more games this year than they did last year and he still did poll three-voters in some losing games, but I think he can get some more three-voters in two or three more games that they might win this year so I’ll go for Cripps,” he said.

Many expect Gold Coast’s Matt Rowell to win this year’s Rising Star, but Brereton believes GWS midfielder Tom Green will step in and have an immediate impact.

“He’s just been drafted and if you pixelated his face, you’d say he looks 25. He just looks like he is ready to go now,” he said.

Down the other end of the ladder, Brereton expects Adelaide and Sydney to struggle in 2020.

“It’ll be between the Swans and the Crows (as the biggest slider). I think they’ll probably be thereabouts with each other,” he said.

See Brereton’s top eight below:

1. West Coast
2. Richmond
3. GWS
4. Collingwood
5. Port Adelaide
6. Western Bulldogs
7. Brisbane
8. Geelong
