2020-03-23T12:50+11:00

Brisbane players have reportedly been stood down without pay for the time being.

The Age’s Daniel Cherny is reporting that the players have been informed of the situation, as the club attempts to deal with the significant financial backlash caused by COVID-19.

The AFL season has been suspended until at least May 31 as the competition gets in line with the community guidelines regarding the virus.

The report adds the Brisbane players will be on leave without pay until a deal is worked out between the league and the AFL Players’ Association.

Down the highway, Gold Coast has stood down without pay their football department.
