Darcy Moore's admission over frozen contract talks

2020-03-27T05:05+11:00

Out-of-contract Collingwood star Darcy Moore says he’s fully prepared to wait on a new deal after all talks were put on hold due to the coronavirus pandemic.

SEN Chief Sports Reporter Sam Edmund reported on Friday the finalisation of all new contracts have been frozen as the league and clubs grapple with slashing costs after the competition was shut down until at least May 31 on Sunday.

A frank Moore, who’s deal expires at the end of 2020, admits it’s a “stress” he’ll have to deal with throughout the year.

“There’s other priorities at the moment,” he told Fox Footy Live on Thursday afternoon.

I know that I’m personally really prepared to have that take a back seat and wait a bit longer while we work out what the future holds for the industry.

“As far as I’m concerned that will slow down even more while we work through everything else. Who knows what it’s going to look like?

“I think they said that, that they won't agree to sign off on any contracts even if they have been agreed to by clubs and players.

“That slows down the process even more. There’s a lot of stress going around and that is just one of them I have got to deal with. There’s a lot of people that are in a pretty tough situation.

“This problem pales in comparison to that I imagine.”
