Cats claw their way back with help from Crawf

2020-03-28T12:36+11:00

Football is doing it hard all over the country but Ardmona Football Netball Club in the Kyabram and District Football League has had a really tough row to hoe.

Despite facing an uncertain start to the 2020 season – like every club in the land – Ardmona has a special reason to celebrate this year.

It will the Cats’ 100th year and there has been a spring in the step of locals in the Goulburn Valley town in central Victoria.

The main reason for that optimism is that Ardmona has attracted the services of one of the AFL’s most decorated players as non-playing coach.

Former Hawthorn champion Shane Crawford has accepted the challenge of coaching the Cats in 2020 – and what a challenge it is!

Ardmona has not won a game in the past five seasons. The low point came in 2019 when the Cats lost one game by 401 points and had four other losses of 150 points or more. Not even another former Hawk star in Robert DiPierdmenico could help turn the club’s fortunes around after he coached Ardmona for one game last year.

But since the end of 2019, the club has put a strong foot forward with a suite of business plans, policies, marketing plans and goals for the future.
