Terry Wallace names his Top 5 taggers

2020-03-30T16:47+11:00

AFL Hall of Famer Terry Wallace has named his Top 5 taggers of all-time.

During his time playing for Hawthorn, Richmond and Footscray and coaching the Bulldogs and Tigers, the three-time premiership player witnessed some of the game’s very best run-with players.

While we are in lockdown, Wallace put together the best lockdown players he has seen during his time in the game on SEN's Bob and Andy.

Plough’s Top 5 taggers

Brady Rawlings

“He won three best and fairests playing that role. He got off them as well. Had the ability to stop his player but to be damaging enough to win the ball which was rewarded with three best and fairest awards.”

Tony Liberatore

“Won a best and fairest and of course a Brownlow. Physically and mentally he disintegrated the guys he played on. They had no answers for him. For how little he was, he was most the feared player in the league at that time.”

Kane Cornes

“Premiership player and four best and fairests. Talk about stopping blokes and also getting off them. He had 600-plus possessions in five seasons as a tagger. Incredible record.”

Cameron Ling

“Best and fairest as a tagger and a premiership captain. A player who could get off them and kick goals by working his opponents over.”

Brett Kirk

“Two-time best and fairest winner and one in a premiership year as a tagger. Captain and one of the guys who changed the fortunes of his club by playing a tagging role.”
