AFL Evolution 2 player ratings revealed - and they're weird

2020-04-02T15:22+11:00

The team and player ratings are out for the new footy video game AFL Evolution 2 and it’s fair to say there are some head scratching decisions among them.

With the game available soon and supposed to be a reflection of the 2020 season, a surprising number of players have either been significantly under or over rated.

For those unfamiliar, a rating in the 90s is usually reserved for the top handful of players, while a rating in the 60s is usually for rookies.

Rory Sloane has been given a 94 overall, higher than Marcus Bontempelli at 92 and Orazio Fantasia at 86 is apparently a better small forward than Charlie Cameron at 85.

Those are a little pedantic of course, but more objectively, it’s very strange to see GWS forward Jeremy Finlayson, who kicked 44 goals last year, listed at a measly 68 – lower than quite a few uncapped rookies.

The game’s developers have revealed that player stats will be monitored and updated regularly, which is good to hear given where some of these sit.

Here’s our quick assessment of players who have been given a ranking that might just be a bit too high:
