Bulldogs midfielder Lachie Hunter charged with drink-driving after crash

2020-04-17T07:45+10:00

Western Bulldogs vice-captain Lachie Hunter is facing police charges after allegedly leaving the scene of a drink-driving accident.

Hunter, 25, smashed his Toyota SUV into four parked cars in Middle Park around 8.45pm on Thursday night and later returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.123 – more than twice the legal limit.

Police arrived at the scene to find Hunter’s No.7 training bag on the backseat, but no sign of the midfielder.

But sen.com.au understands Hunter spoke to two neighbours after the crash and left his licence details with them before going to a friend’s house in South Yarra.

It was there that Hunter continued drinking, leading to him returning a blood alcohol reading of 0.123.

It’s understood Hunter had just had an argument with a loved one before the accident.

He was fined $1652 for breaking public health orders put in place to stop the spread of COVID-19 and he will lose his licence for 12 months.

But the 2018 best and fairest could now be facing far more serious punishment if it is established he left the scene of an accident.
