SEN Track Preview: Rosehill on Anzac Day

2020-04-25T09:40+10:00

Racing returns to Rosehill after three consecutive meetings at Randwick.

The rail is in the true position and with the weather being clear and warm the track should play quite fairly.

Let's get stuck into the card!

Race 1 - 12:50pm

Clarendon Stakes (1400m)

Rock My Wand (2) deserves to be favourite here after running well behind gun two-year-old Away Game.

Saffiano (5) looks to be a big improver in this race. Was snicked back to the rear half of the field on debut and ran home respectably. He'll settle much closer today and races at his home track for the first time.

Formentera (1) won well on a heavy track after leading throughout and Tim Clark sticks. Having said that, think he's poorly weighted in this type of race.

Rousseau (3) was $31 on debut when running second against Formentera on debut. Gets a dry track in his favour here but no value at the current price.

Race 2 - 1:25pm

The Kokoda BM78 Handicap (2000m)

Mind boggling race this one.

Laure Me In (3) has never seen 2000m in his career but he finally gets a drying track to prove his worth. James McDonald has taken the ride which is a huge positive.

Yonkers (6) and Shadow Flight (4) are next best but have less than ideal set-ups into this race and seem under the odds.

Lady Cuvee (10) is one that can improve at long odds after copping wet tracks at her first two runs this prep.

Race 3 - 2:00pm

The Tobruk BM78 Handicap (1500m)

Grand Piano (10) is one of two three-year-old's in this race taking on the older horses. Gets his old mate Nash Rawiller again who is 2/2 when riding this gelding. Great chance.

Never Listen (4) might have been beaten a fair way first-up but he'll improve at good odds here. Steps up in distance and from barrier four can run a cheeky race.

Word for Word (13) and Above And Beyond (11) are becoming a bit costly for punters but they'll be around the mark again.

Race 4 - 2:35pm

Hawkesbury Crown (1300m)

Bangkok (6) is ready to fire on all cylinders. Ran third behind White Moss and that form looks very hard to beat here.

In Her Time (1) genuine Group 1 horse in her final race. She'll have to lug 60kgs in this one but she can end her racing career with a win.

Connemara (8) battled home behind the top pick here but she gets the blinkers for the first time in her career. That might spark some improvement.

Irithea (2) was too bad to be true at Moonee Valley last start. She can definitely bounce back.

Back by popular demand, the Inside Track Club returns this Saturday featuring Dr Turf with the Flemington Races and Troy Little with greyhounds at The Meadows.

Race 5 - 3:10pm

Hawkesbury Gold Rush (1100m)

One of, if not, the toughest race on the card.

All Too Royal (5) ran well in the Group 1 Oakleigh Plate and comes into this off a freshen up. Seems to really relish the Sydney way of going.

Villami (10) she was disappointing last start but can definitely put her in the forgive file. Back to 1100m could be the key here.

Graff (2) gets the blinkers and tongue tie. If he's anywhere near his best he'll put away this lot. Current price is no value.

Agent Pippa (15) should lead comfortably and is a good roughie to be with if you're looking for something at longer odds in this race.

Race 6 - 3:45pm

Hawkesbury Guineas (1400m)

Icebath (14) gets the man of the Sydney autumn in Glen Boss to steer her around. Looks one of the better bets on the program.

Rule The World (7) three trials to get ready for this race. He'll be right up on the pace and will give a good sight for the Waterhouse/Bott stable.

Spend (6) has not had a run in nearly a month since running fourth in a four-way-go with 60kgs in the Bendigo Guineas. He's a talented horse and should run well.

Bandersnatch (4) had two nice trials in preparation for this first-up assignment and we know Gerald Ryan likes his horses fresh.

Race 7 - 4:20pm

Hawkesbury Gold Cup (1500m)

Royal Celebration (10) has strung together two wins on the bounce albeit the most recent one on a Wednesday. He does get some weight relief from last start and if Sam Clipperton can negotiate the wide barrer he'll be in the finish.

Amangiri (8) maps to lead this race and will run a lot better than she did last start after she was beaten over seven lengths when running ninth to Con Te Partiro.

Gaulois (1) ran third over this course and distance nearly a month ago. Has had a trial in between runs to keep him ticking along and Hugh Bowman stays on.

Live And Free (16) looks revved up to run to his best first-up after three solid trials of which the most recent he won. No value at the current price though.

Race 8 - 4:55pm

The Gallipoli BM78 Handicap (1300m)

A lot of midweek form in this race. Tough to assess with much confidence.

Tricky Gal (2) is a mare off a good win and the rise to 1300m will be no problem for her and could be the advantage she has over this field most of who are short course types.

True Detective (6) the sole three-year-old of the field. Dry track is a massive tick here but he's come up very well found in the betting.

Miss Einstein (11) had a 1200m trial at Warwick Farm and went well enough to suggest she can run a bold race first-up.

Nordicus (13) should be cherry ripe from a fitness point of view the only knock is his both runs this preparation have been in Wednesday grade but he gets Nash Rawiller.
