Teenage Blue crowned AFLW best and fairest

2020-04-28T19:42+10:00

Teenage Carlton superstar Maddy Prespakis has been crowned the 2020 AFLW Best and Fairest.

Polling 15 votes, she finished ahead of Fremantle’s Kiara Bowers (12) and North Melbourne’s Emma Kearney (11).

Prespakis had a brilliant 2020 season, winning her second Carlton B&F and being named in the All-Australian team.

She averaged 21 disposals per game, four clearances and was the key reason for the Blues’ five-game unbeaten run to close the season.

Prespakis joins the likes of Chris Judd and Greg Williams in the men’s competition to have won the equivalent top award.

The biggest oddity of the voting saw North Melbourne midfielder Jasmine Garner not finish in the top 15.

Garner, who won both the AFL Players MVP and the AFL Coaches Association award, somehow finished with only four votes.

Western Bulldogs young star Isabel Huntington was also crowned the AFL Rising Star for the 2020 season.
