AUSTRALIA’S leading sports broadcaster SEN today announced its expansion into Queensland with the launch of SENTrack including a dedicated local breakfast show with former Australian test cricketer Ian Healy and veteran sports journalist Pat Welsh.
SENTrack launched last week on 96.9FM Ingham and 99.1FM Atherton and will debut from 7th September on 1053AM Brisbane and 1620AM Gold Coast.
Australia’s first independent racing, harness and greyhound radio racing service, SENTrack - offers racing fans previews, analysis, insights and reviews of key races across the country.
In Queensland, ‘Breakfast with Pat and Heals’ will provide a local lead-in to each day’s racing coverage – commencing 7th September. The pair said they were looking forward to sharing their banter with sports fans Monday – Thursday, 6.30-8.30am.
“By the time we’re on-air in September we expect sport will be back bigger and better than ever and we can’t wait to dissect all of the day’s sport news with our Queensland listeners,” said cricketing legend Healy, who will also join SEN’s cricket coverage this summer.
Welsh – best known for his rugby league and golfing commentary and who has commentated at eight Olympic Games and covered the prestigious US Open, British Open and the President's Cup during his 45-year career at Channel Seven, said he was thrilled to be joining SENTrack.
“I can’t wait to join Heals bright and early most mornings to discuss the day’s sporting agenda. It’ll be heaps of fun and I’m sure we’ll have a lot of laughs and robust debates along the way,” Welsh said.
The breakfast program will be heard on 1053AM Brisbane, 1620AM Gold Coast, 96.9FM Ingham and 99.1FM Atherton.
Racing will take centre stage each day after breakfast, with SENTrack showcasing key races across the country along with interviews with owners, breeders, trainers and jockeys.
Pacific Star Network Chief Executive Officer, Craig Hutchison said he was excited to bring SEN to passionate Queensland sports and racing fans.
“We are incredibly excited to launch SENTrack in Queensland and honoured to welcome Ian Healy and Pat Welsh - two of Queensland’s greatest sporting personalities to our team,” Hutchison said.
“The pair had originally signed with us earlier in the year, but due to the evolving COVID-19 circumstances, we decided to postpone their debut until September when we hope sport will be back in full swing.
“Queensland is a proud and passionate sporting State – with racing a key employer and contributor to the economy. SENTrack will shine a light on racing in all its forms and celebrate the participants of the sport through a deeper level of coverage than ever before.
“We love Queensland racing, harness and greyhounds and stand with these codes through these times - their contribution to the state’s economy and the huge volume of jobs they create is so important to Queensland, not to mention the fun and social aspects of the codes that SENTrack will showcase and highlight.
“From Simon O’Donnell, David Taggart and his team’s insight across spring through to our widely acclaimed Melbourne Cup Day coverage last year with Gerard Whateley and Bruce McAvaney, our racing coverage has gone from strength to strength and SENTrack will take that to the next level,” Hutchison said.
SENTrack also recently launched in Melbourne 1377AM, Perth on 657AM, Wollongong 1575AM and Gosford 801AM. It can also be heard via the SEN app.
SENTrack 1053AM Brisbane and SENTrack 1620AM Gold Coast will commence broadcasting on 7th September.
