Adelaide Crows players returning from interstate are under investigation for breaking strict AFL training protocols.
As the AFL prepare to announce their plans for restarting the season, players from all 18 clubs have been recalled in anticipation for training to recommence in the coming weeks.
Under current South Australia law, all travellers are required to self-isolate for 14 days, with the Crows putting up the returning players at the Novotel Barossa Valley Resort in the interim.
"There is no way anyone can justify what has happened here," Sam McClure said on Sportsday.
"The AFL integrity unit and football department are investigating this tonight. Senior AFL officials are absolutely furious."
Crows football boss Adam Kelly says the club are investigating the incident.
“Players were told to complete any training in accordance with current AFL training protocols, which include not training in more than pairs and at all times maintaining social distancing, while staying at the facility,” Kelly said in a statement.
“It appears this may not have happened for the entirety of a skills session and we are in the process of gathering the facts and liaising with the AFL.”
The Age reports that players were spotted with footballs on the second and third fairways of the golf course on Thursday.
