Bob Murphy and Andy Maher have named their ‘Mount Rushmore’ for the Adelaide Crows.
For those unaware, they are ranking the top four people (players, coaches or others) who symbolise the heart, soul and the spirit, those who have ignited the imagination and enhanced the foundation of the clubs they have represented – in Andy’s words. The four people who tell the story of the football club - in Bob's words.
They're not necessarily just the four best players the club has ever had.
They are going one step further by having no honourable mentions.
SEN Drive’s Adelaide Mount Rushmore: Mark Ricciuto, Andrew McLeod, Malcolm Blight and Tony Modra.
“When we came up with this idea I looked at Adelaide and thought that’s it for me,” Maher said.
“There’s no other person who should be on Mount Rushmore from an Adelaide Crows perspective more-so than any of that quartet.”
Ricciuto played 312 games for the Crows, captaining the club between 2001 and 2007 and winning the 2003 Brownlow Medal.
Andrew McLeod won back to back Norm Smith Medals in the 1997 and 1998 Grand Finals as part of a 340-game career with the Crows.
Tony Modra was an excitement machine in the 1990s, playing 118 games for the Crows and kicking 440 goals.
Malcolm Blight is a South Australian football legend and coached Adelaide to back to back premierships in 1997 and 1998.
