Brad Johnson’s runaway premiership favourite

2020-05-21T09:25+10:00

Western Bulldogs great Brad Johnson says reigning premiers Richmond will be “extremely difficult to beat” in 2020.

The Tigers are gunning for a third flag in four years and Johnson is in awe of coach Damien Hardwick and the club's impressive strength in depth.

When asked whether Richmond are the runaway premiership favourites on SEN’s Dwayne’s World, Johnson replied: “I think so again.

“Their structure and their talent depth pool is enormous, the way they’ve traded and drafted and got the right type of player to fill various roles within that footy club.

“If one steps out the next one that comes in is just as dangerous and we saw that on Grand Final day with Marlion Pickett.

“Their list is so stable and their footy club is extremely stable and motivated to be the best they can be, you’ve just got to look at how positive Damien Hardwick is now with the way he is talking about this season – it means something to him and he’s going to relay that to his players.

“They are going to be extremely difficult to beat again.”

It’s been widely reported that Richmond will take on Collingwood on June 11 to reopen the 2020 season.
