Former AFL coach names the side who could be winless after five rounds

2020-05-27T10:11+10:00

Former St Kilda coach Scott Watters believes Fremantle are in for a “pretty tough start” to their 2020 campaign.

After losing their opening-round clash against Essendon, the Dockers have been forced to spend the first month of the season at a Gold Coast hub due to Western Australia’s current biosecurity regulations.

Fremantle will face Adelaide, Gold Coast and Port Adelaide at Metricon Stadium as well as play Brisbane at the Gabba in the opening month of the season.

Watters, who played 109 games for Fremantle, West Coast and Sydney, said the Dockers could be winless after five rounds after being handed a “very tough” start to the rebooted season.

“Out of all of the teams, (Fremantle coach) Justin Longmuir has got a very tough start to his coaching career,” Watters said on Footy SA & WA.

“They could be zero (wins) and five (losses), there is probably one game in there against Gold Coast where it’s a flip of the coin.

“It could be a pretty tough start for Fremantle.”

On the flipside, Watters believes 2018 premiers West Coast could make a strong start to the 2020 season.

“West Coast could jump out of the blocks and win four out of their first five (matches),” he said.
