Hawks GM provides injury update on four key players

Hawthorn GM of Football Graham Wright has provided an injury update on four key Hawks heading into the resumption of the season.

Star midfielder Jaeger O’Meara remains in doubt to make it to Round 2 after copping a fracture above his eyebrow at training.

“Obviously Jaeger the other day had a small crack above his eyebrow, he’ll be out of contact drills for the next couple of weeks and we’re not sure what that means for Round 2 yet,” Wright told SEN’s Dwayne’s World.

“Jarman Impey is going really well from his knee reconstruction last year, but we’ll be into July before we see him I would have thought. It’ll be a full 12 months, which we always expected.

“Blake Hardwick has recovered from an injured pec that he injured a couple of weeks prior to Round 1 and looks like he’ll be at least available for Round 2, it’s just a matter of whether he’s selected, but he started contact drills on Monday and has kept himself in fantastic shape and looks like he’s going really well.

“Other than that Dan Howe who had a planta fascia operation is a little bit slower than that, but hopefully some stage in July as well.

“When you have an eight to 10 week break you’re hopeful that most of your guys are able to recover and hopefully be available for selection.”

Hawthorn will run the gauntlet in the first block of the fixture, needing to play Richmond, GWS (away) and Geelong (away) in the next month.
