Why GWS is “very well placed” to go one better in 2020

2020-06-01T12:20+10:00

Brett Deledio says GWS is “very well placed” to make it back-to-back Grand Final appearances and win a first-ever premiership in 2020.

Speaking on SEN Breakfast, Deledio believes their strong leadership and star quality across all lines makes Leon Cameron’s side a formidable outfit once the season resumes.

“They are very well placed (to make the Grand Final and go one better),” Deledio said.

“I think they are led extremely well by Stephen Coniglio and he’s also got Phil (Davis) and Wardy (Callan Ward) … those three guys as well as few others in the leadership group really lead the side well under Leon (Cameron).

“It stung them last year, I saw it firsthand what it was like … they’re as good as any side I think in terms of their star power … and I think the 16-minute quarters will only suit them more.

“I’ll be very surprised if they weren’t there, put it that way.

“They do want to achieve something, and they’ve got a bit of a chip on their shoulder in terms of how they feel the rest of the competition looks at them, the young upstarts that have been given everything, so they definitely take that personally.”

GWS hope to go 2-0 when they host North Melbourne at Giants Stadium on June 14.
