Crows board member "really surprised" following McLeod comments

Adelaide Crows board members Rod Jameson admits it was a “little surprising” to hear Andrew McLeod say he doesn’t feel welcome at the club.

The Crows great, who played 340 games and won North Smith medals in both the 1997 and 1998 premiership wins, said on the Bunji and Brettster podcast that he “wouldn’t feel welcome” back at Adelaide.

Jameson, who is Chairman of the past Crows players board, urged McLeod to get on the front foot and clarify his comments.

“It was a little surprising (to hear of his comments),” he said on SEN Breakfast.

“He’s an employee at the club and an assistant coach to the ladies team so his actions don’t reflect what he said.

“It’s really surprising, I spoke to Andrew (McLeod) and he feels the way he does which is unfortunate.

“If he wants to speak, he should but from our past players’ perspective, we couldn’t be doing anything better from the programs we have in place and the AFL Players’ Association have recognised that for a number of years."

Jameson said he and his fellow board members were doing everything in their power to continually engage their past players.

“He’s a temperamental soul, he’s a beautiful man and one of our greatest,” he said of McLeod.

“Our connection to our past players is enormous – we have father, son and daughter academies, we have 200 seats at every home game where we engage our past players and officials.”
