Suns provide update on Izak Rankine

2020-06-02T10:44+10:00

Will Izak Rankine make his eagerly awaited debut for the Gold Coast Suns in Round 2?

Suns CEO Mark Evans says the Rankine is “in a good position” to face West Coast at Metricon Stadium on June 13.

The No.3 pick in the 2018 draft has been hampered by hamstring problems that restricted him to just three NEAFL games in his debut season.

“He (Rankine) has done very well,” Evans told SEN Mornings.

“He originally went to Adelaide for a couple of weeks when the lockdown first happened and then decided to return and get into training early.

“He’s in a good position at the moment and hopefully we see him in Round 2.”

Rankine, 20, followed fellow top-ended draftees Jack Lukosius and Ben King in recommitting to the Suns last year, re-signing until the end of 2022.

Stuart Dew’s side play their next three matches at Metricon Stadium before travelling to Geelong to play the Cats in Round 5.
