The one request Andrew Gaff has while in quarantine on the Gold Coast

2020-06-03T12:18+10:00

Star Eagles midfielder Andrew Gaff is hoping the AFL will relax quarantine hub restrictions enough so he and his teammates are able to play golf on the Gold Coast.

Caroline Wilson reported on Footy Classified on Monday that players forced to quarantine in Queensland to restart the season were requesting the likes of sandwich makers, table tennis tables and NutriBullets.

But all Gaff wants to do is able to play golf while living in the Sunshine State for the next month.

“For me it’s all about the golf,” he said on SEN’s Dwayne’s World.

“If we could get that going as soon as possible then that would be a great relief. A few other guys at the club like Shannon Hurn and Hamish Brayshaw love it as well.

“it’s that fine line – we obviously respect the restrictions but we also would love to do a couple of things like play golf. A lot of the younger boys especially who are born and bred in Western Australia love surfing but for me it would be great to bring the clubs and play at a course like Royal Pines."

Gaff said the club still hasn’t been told whether recreational activities such as golf will be allowed when West Coast relocate to the Gold Coast next week.

“There’s still quite a bit to be finalised,” he said.

“That’s the tough thing, we don’t know whether things are going to change halfway through on the Gold Coast, whether things are going to be allow and whether we can play golf a week through our halfway through.

“That’s stuff that we’ll talk about as a footy club and I’m sure the AFL are working through it with the four clubs are going up there in the hub.

“I’ll probably take (the golf clubs up to the Gold Coast) at this stage, I’m not sure what the Freo boys are doing but I think it’ll be good for our wellbeing.

“Albeit we’re staying at a really nice hotel, it’ll be good to do something socially because we’ll all be pretty cramped in a hotel but there’s still quite a bit to play out there.”
