Port Adelaide midfielder Tom Rockliff is hopeful the club can don its iconic ‘prison bar’ jumper in future Showdown matches.
Power chairman David Koch and Collingwood president Eddie McGuire have clashed over the guernsey with McGuire threatening legal action if Port are granted permission to wear the black and white strip next season.
Koch has sought approval from the AFL to wear its traditional SANFL jumper in all Showdowns beyond 2020, a move that angered McGuire.
“They’re not scared to share their opinions, so I’m not sure where that will end up,” Rockliff told SEN’s The Captain’s Run.
“On the prison bars aspect of it as soon as you get to the Port Adelaide footy club the history on the walls and the stories that they tell … it means so much to so many people.
“We’re really looking forward to wearing it as players and representing what Port Adelaide is for 150 years in Round 2.
“If we get the opportunity to wear it yearly that would be outstanding in Showdowns.”
Port Adelaide last wore the ‘prison bar’ jumper in the 2014 elimination final win over Richmond.
