The AFL has signed a reduced broadcast deal with Seven West Media and Foxtel due to the COVID-19 pandemic, according to The Age.
Seven has extended its partnership with the AFL until the end of 2024 and is expected to save $87 million and receive a 19 per cent discount on its coverage between 2020 and 2022, while the deal with Foxtel will stay through to 2022.
Seven West Media boss James Warburton is pleased the network has secured a two-year extension.
"The AFL and Seven are a core part of each other’s DNA and we are delighted to have not only reached a revised agreement for the current contract term," Warburton told The Age.
"But to have extended our relationship for a further two seasons taking the agreement through until the end of 2024."
The AFL’s current six-year $2.5 billion deal with Foxtel, Seven and Telstra expires at the end of 2022.
